Event Facilitator

Position Reports To: Rentals Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

A part-time, as events are scheduled, position to assist clients with their event-day rentals at one of four venues owned and operated by Glen Helen Association.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide on-site assistance during events at Glen Helen rental facilities, including weddings, parties, celebrations of life, business meetings, and public events
  • Open and prepare rental facilities for events – unlock space, turn on lights, HVAC, and confirm the space is clean and ready for the client
  • Set up, clean and tear down basic equipment – tables, chairs, audio equipment.

Parking Collection Attendant

Position Reports To: Glen Helen Association Parking Coordinator

Location: Yellow Springs, Ohio

POSITION SUMMARY:
Glen Helen is seeking part-time, a seasonal Parking Collection Attendants for our parking lots in Yellow Springs, OH. The Parking Collection Attendant is responsible for handling all parking fee collections and initial visitor interactions in a courteous and professional manner. We are looking for individuals who are available to fill two to four shifts per week. Shifts are scheduled within the hours of 8am – 8pm. Collection hours may range from 12 to 24 hours per week. Attendants must be willing and able to work on weekends, work independently, and be flexible due to weather conditions. Please do not apply for this position if you are looking for a full time position.​

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greet visitors to the Glen in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Collect parking fee from entering vehicles, provide visitors correct change as needed, accurately record and deposit monies.
  • Track vacant parking spaces to prevent admitting vehicles when the lot is full.
  • Keep parking attendant spaces tidy and organized.
  • Serve as the point of contact for questions related to parking in the lot, Glen trails and resources and parking in the surrounding area.
  • Stay informed and communicate about happenings in the Glen such as programs, trail closures, building hours, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Requirements: Must be 18 or older
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year previous customer service or equivalent experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS/PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Job Requirements
  • Strong verbal communication skills, exceptional customer service skills, ability to exercise good judgment, be adaptable and maintain a courteous demeanor, ability to deescalate tense situations, and have ability to mentally calculate correct change.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather, lift up to 25 pounds, and be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Having a thorough knowledge of Glen Helen trails, surrounding streets, directions and landmarks in the Yellow Springs area is a big plus.
COMPENSATION
  • $14.50/hr, paid bi-weekly

Eco-Camp Counselor

Position Reports To: Glen Helen Outdoor Education Center Education Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
Join our team of Eco-Camp Counselors for a fun and engaging community, interested in making a difference in the lives of children. Glen Helen Eco-Camp consists of week-long summer camps for children ages 5 to 15 years old. Each week, Eco-Camp Counselors are assigned up to 12 campers and are responsible for organizing and leading activities aligning with the camp theme. More information about our camp offering can be found on our website (glenhelen.org/ecocamp). Eco-Camp Counselors have full access to our staff support, facilities, and 1,000-acre nature preserve to develop camps they feel passionate about. This summer position will strengthen the Counselor’s ability to plan, teach, and lead others. Staff live on-site, within walking distance of the vibrant and artistic Village of Yellow Springs.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop plans that align with camp descriptions and implement a variety of age and ability appropriate outdoor activities
  • Role model positive community engagement and environmentally conscious behaviors.
  • Monitor campers during their stay to ensure their safety and well-being using sound judgment and applying safety protocols
  • Complete daily and/or weekly overnight rotations in camp dormitories to provide supervision of overnight campers.
  • Assist in the maintenance of all program supplies, equipment, and facilities.
  • Comply with all Glen Helen Association policies and represent the OEC in a professional manner at all times
  • Share in the general daily and weekly responsibilities at the OEC and participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Additional responsibilities, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Complete the mandatory pre Eco-Camp Counselor training.
  • Demonstrate a respect and affinity for children, a passion for the natural environment, and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Willing to live in community and work closely as a team.
  • Pass criminal background check and fingerprinting to be completed during training.
  • Completion of First Aid, CPR, and AED training prior to start of employment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk up to 5 miles a day on uneven terrain.
  • Applicants must be able to commit to the full duration of the program.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Join our team for a fun and engaging community, interested in making a difference in the lives of children. Glen Helen Eco-Camp consists of week-long summer camps for children between 5 to 15 years old. We are hiring 2 Eco-Camp Day Camp Teachers with an affinity for working with young children to lead our programs for ages 5-6 and 7-8. Each week, Day Camp Teachers are assigned up to 12 campers and responsible for organizing and leading activities aligning with the camp theme. Day Camp Teachers will facilitate programming that cultivates curiosity, fosters learning, and demonstrates respect for camp attendees.   • Demonstrate a respect and affinity for young children, a passion for the natural environment, and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Skilled working with young children (5-8 years old) including adept communication, listening, collaboration, adaptability, and patience.
  • Pass criminal background check and fingerprinting to be completed during training.
  • Completion of First Aid, CPR, and AED training prior to start of employment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk up to 5 miles a day on uneven terrain.

Intern Training Opportunities

Raptor Center Trainee

Position Reports To: Glen Helen Association Raptor Center Director
Location: Yellow Springs, Ohio
Start Date: February 2026
End Date: 6-month minimum commitment 
Schedule: Full time

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Raptor Center trainees are valuable members of the educational and rehabilitation programs. Throughout this six or 12-month program, trainees gain hands-on education and extensive experience in captive raptor care and management, rehabilitation, education both at the center and in the community, training and enrichment. Trainees are mentored by two full-time and one half-time permanent staff members and our offsite veterinarian and have access to a variety of job shadowing opportunities in many wildlife related careers. This training program is best suited for individuals who have a developed interest in wildlife care and wellbeing, wildlife rehabilitation and wildlife education. Prior experience or specific education is not required, however a real world understanding of working with animals and wildlife is highly desirable.

Naturalist Teacher Internship

Position Reports To: Glen Helen Association Outdoor Education Center Director
Location: Yellow Springs, Ohio

End Date: May 7, 2027
Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday

POSITION SUMMARY:
Naturalist Interns teach elementary students about the natural sciences during multi-day residential programs. Students are provided with experience-based connections to nature while cultivating community and personal growth. Our curriculum is aligned with Ohio Education Standards and taught on the trails of Glen Helen Nature Preserve. Naturalist Interns have the freedom to develop lesson plans to support their individual teaching style and passions. We are committed to fostering lifelong learning at the Glen Helen Outdoor Education Center, therefore ongoing training, professional development, and mentorship are provided. This internship provides real-world experience in preparation for employment as a naturalist, educator, or science communicator of any kind. Interns are provided housing amidst the beautiful 1,000 acre Glen Helen Nature Preserve, which is within walking distance of the vibrant Village of Yellow Springs.

NOTICE: Due to the nature of outdoor education, the Glen Helen Outdoor Education Center will be closed to all programming December 14, 2026 - January 8, 2027. Naturalist Teacher Interns will be furloughed for this duration but permitted to remain in staff housing.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver standards-aligned environmental education experiences for a diverse population of students in our multi-day residential and day programs
  • Role model positive community engagement and environmentally conscious behaviors
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of program participants and OEC team members using sound judgment and applying safety protocols
  • Assist in the maintenance of all program supplies, equipment, and facilities
  • Comply with all Glen Helen Association policies and represent the OEC in a professional manner at all times
  • Participate in regular trainings, workshops, and staff meetings
  • Share in the general daily and weekly responsibilities at the OEC
Requirements
  • Minimum two years of undergraduate course work or associate's degree
