Glen Helen Annual Calendar Photo Contest | Glen Helen Nature Preserve

Calling all photographers!

Glen Helen is seeking creative photographs for the 2027 Glen Helen Wall Calendar!

We invite both amateur and professional photographers to send us horizontal (landscape) photographs taken in the Glen; including landscapes and natural attractions in the preserve, macro and micro pictures of flora and fauna, and resident birds at the Raptor Center.

Selected images are based on composition and creativity as well as how well they combine with other images to create an attractive calendar.

Proceeds from annual wall calendar sales are a significant fundraiser for Glen Helen, contributing to the continued protection and restoration of Glen Helen's 1,125-acre nature preserve and the programs of Glen Helen’s Raptor Center, Outdoor Education Center, and Trailside Museum.

Guidelines

All submissions must be received by August 16, 2026.
You may submit up to 5 photos. Please note, up to 2 images from any individual photographer may be chosen for the calendar.
All images submitted must be the submitter’s original work. No A.I. generated images will be considered.
Only horizontal color shots are accepted for the calendar. Vertical images are not a suitable fit. The calendar requires a variety of image styles and subject matter—landscape images, macro shots of flora or fauna, seasonal or weather-related images and lesser-known sights in the Glen are encouraged. Photos that include people are generally not accepted for the calendar.
Photographers whose work is chosen for the calendar are credited by name and receive a free 2027 calendar.
Electronic photographic images should be saved at 300DPI or higher and titled as follows: 2027.CalendarContest.Lastname.Title.Number (on corresponding list).

*All photo submissions must include a valid Photo Release document and comply with all of the guidelines listed.

I grant irrevocable permission to the Glen Helen Association and its subordinates to publish the photograph(s) I have taken and submitted for use in Glen Helen's promotional materials.
I grant irrevocable permission to allow my photograph(s) to be used, with credit, when reasonably available, by Glen Helen in their marketing brochures, promotions, advertising, newsletter, website, calendar, merchandise or other forms of print and electronic media without any right to royalties or other compensation to me.
I understand that if my photography is selected for use, it may be necessary for the photograph(s) to be altered to some extent and that blurring, distortion, and color changes may occur in producing any finished product.
I agree to release, defend, and hold harmless Glen Helen and its subordinates, from and against any claims, damages, or liability arising from or related to the use of my photograph(s).
I waive any right to inspect or approve any finished product, advertising, or other copy that may be used in connection with my photography or the use to which it may be applied.
I declare and avow that the photograph(s) I am submitting is/are my own original work(s) in all respects and that I am the sole and exclusive owner of the photograph(s).
I affirm that I am more than 18 years of age and competent to sign this contract on my own behalf, or if younger than 18 years of age have had a parent or guardian to sign on my behalf.
I have submitted a written description of where & when I took each photo and hereby give Glen Helen permission to use that description when crediting my work. (See attached description form.)
In the event that I choose to sell this/these photograph(s) to another party, I understand that Glen Helen retains all rights as described herein, without modification or penalty.
I understand that the terms herein are contractual and not a mere recital, that this instrument is legally binding, and that I have voluntarily signed this document.
I HAVE FULLY INFORMED MYSELF OF THE CONTENTS OF THIS CONSENT, WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE BY READING IT BEFORE SIGNING IT ON BEHALF OF MYSELF AND MY HEIRS.
