Injured Bird?

Have you found an injured raptor (hawk, owl, eagle, osprey, falcon, or vulture) that appears to be injured or ill?

First, call the Raptor Center at (937)767-6656. We can advise you on whether the bird needs help and what steps to follow. If you are unable to reach us, please follow these steps:

Contain

Use gloves and a towel or blanket to cover the bird. Place the bird in a cardboard box or plastic bin slightly larger than the bird itself. Keep the bird in a cool, dark, and quiet place. Do not offer food or water or attempt to care for it yourself as it may result in injury to you or the bird.

Call

Call (937)767-6656 and let us know you have an injured bird. If you are unable to reach us, continue keeping the bird in its quiet place until you have gotten in contact with us

Deliver

Bring the bird to the Raptor Center at 1075 St Rt 343, Yellow Springs, OH 45387. The best way you can help an injured raptor is to transport the bird directly to our center. This allows us to optimize the care for each bird.

There is no charge for bringing an injured raptor in need of care, though donations are always appreciated!
